Casement
Windows

Casement windows are hinged on the side. This type of operation
has remained very popular over the years due to its full opening
capability. (Most casements open 90%). This enables the customer
to attain maximum ventilation at every opening in the structure.
Casement windows are typically operated by the use of a single
arm (roto) operator in conjunction with a locking handle.
Although
changes have been made in the appearance, this system of hardware
has been used for many years. The standard hinges available are
the extension (for Series 1000) or butt (for all series). This
hinge is streamlined. Both hinges are fully welded to the frame
to guarantee the strength and stability of the unite. All casement
windows using the single arm operator are available with or without
screens.

Projected
Windows
Projected
windows can be hinged on the top or the bottom. Top hinged windows
can be ordered using two types of operation.
Top
Hinged Windows
Dual
Arm Operator - The sill-mounted dual arm operator (1500
or 2000 Series only) is used to roto operate awning windows.
The resulting opening is limited to the length of the operator
arms (approximately 10"). These units accept a standard screen
and must be a minimum 30 1/2" wide.
Hand
Operated -
Hand operated (push-out) projected windows are operated using
a 4-bar scissor hinge and a cam type locking device. This type
of operation can be used on both the residential and commercial
windows. There are some restrictions that apply to this type
of operation relating to size and weight. Check with the factory
for recommended uses. Operation of this type of hardware is
accomplished by hand or remotely using a pole. Pole operation
is not recommended for use on windows over 14 feet from the
floor. Due to the type of operation of the sash, regular screens
can not be used. The only type of screen available is a wicket
(trap door) screen. These are not recommended for remote operations.

Hopper
or Bottom - Hinged Hopper or Bottom Hinged windows
are hinged at the bottom and drop in from the top. This type
of operation is very popular when the nature of the structure
inhibits a window from opening out. Similar to the project out
window, a 4-bar scissor hinge and cam handle are used to operate
this window and it can be operated by hand or remotely using
a pole. Outside screens are available for both operations.
